We believe there are a number of ways you can get involved and support the various projects we are running at Kuumba Education.
Africa has the highest rates of educational exclusion in the world. The rate of gross enrollment in tertiary education in sub-Saharan Africa is by far the lowest in the world at only 8% in 2014 yet by 2050 over half of the world's population will live in Africa. At Kuumba, our individualized university scholarship program allows our sponsors to make a direct and personalized positive impact on this worrying trend. Your support and involvement is vital. We help you select a deserving scholar. We are in the community working with teachers, parents, and students since grade school.
By becoming a Kuumba Scholarship Sponsor, you are giving a student fair access to a bright future. With your help, a student will navigate their way through their 3-4 university years, learning the valuable skills they need to become successful future leaders. All of our Kuumba students have already given back to the Kibagare community.
In 2017, in collaboration with the Friends of St Martins, a long time dreamed of project to fund and build a new borehole on-site to meet the daily water needs of its students came to fruition with a generous donation from salesforce and after our team tested the water in several spots on-site only to find massive amounts of bacteria at each site. A year later we enhanced the sustainability of the well when we powered it with solar panels.
This is important for the students now more than ever given the criticality of clean water for disinfection and hand washing to prevent the spread of diseases like COVID-19.
